| There are, of course, a number of koi varieties which have only two colors. We've already gone over the Kohaku (Koh-ha-koo) (to review, the Kohaku is a white fish with red markings, considered a Gosanke, or foundation koi. One of the "big three") Moving on to koi varieties with two colors, we'll break them down starting with two colored koi varieties with one of those colors being black. | In these two sets of photos, the difference between the Shiro Bekko and the Shiro Utsuri is obvious. Both have a white, or shiro (shi-row) ground with black, or sumi (sue-mee) markings, however, the Bekko has small black spots and the Utsuri has large black patches. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| As far as I know, there are no Ki Bekko (yellow fish with small black patches) registered as a koi variety, however, just because I've never heard of one doesn't make it so. It may be a variety that is still being developed, or maybe I just haven't come across one. Whatever the case may be, I don't have any to show you here. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
