Karen wanted her pond along the back of her property in a raised flower bed, which is about 14' deep front to back, and runs the
entire width of the lot, along with a row of arborvite at the very back of the flower bed that she wanted to keep. This
presented a bit of a problem because she also wanted to be able to enjoy both the sight and sound of the pond from her house
and the back deck. The solution was to install a 14' x 7' pond 5' deep, and a 15' waterfall/stream that twisted enough to be
visable from the house.
The entire system is 30' long, so it can be
seen and heard from the house. Also, you
can see the water where it comes off the top
of the waterfall and where it enters the
pond. Right is a picture taken from the back
deck of the house. Below, the waterfall.
A path and steps were installed behind the
filter box for easier access in the confined
space.

Because the width of the pond space was so
limited, the pond ended up being very
narrow, which in turn made the plant shelves
very narrow. I decided to hide as much liner
as I could around the entire perimeter of the
pond edge, so if Karen decided she wanted to
expand into the surrounding garden area a
little, we could.
Sho-nuff, soon after we replaced the landscape timbers with wall stone in
2007, she decided she wanted wider plant shelves and we were able to extend
the pond 6" in every direction except directly under the waterfall.
