Kim and her daughter, Michaela, dug their own pond two years before I got called. They started small, and in 2004 decided to
expand. Unfortunately, their leak problems followed them into their new pond, and it was very difficult to keep clean and
maintain because of the sloping sides and gravel bottom. They had purchased a Savio filter and skimmer, which as you can see,
is very difficult to hide.
I have no idea why, but the product manufacturer (Savio) had recommended using concrete to set the rock in place on the liner.
Concrete will not only eat away at the liner, but unless properly sealed, will throw the pH way off balance because of the lime
in the concrete mix. We decided to take it all out and start over, installing a bottom drain to the existing skimmer, redigging the
pond with vertical sides and plant shelves, and adding a seating area.

I have to apologize for the quality of these pictures. I guess when I originally posted them, I reduced the resolution a little too much.
