About Us
When I got to Paul and Jean's house, they already had a "trench" dug that was about 25' long and 6' wide by another 'pond
installer' who they had hired the previous year and because they wouldn't pay him the entire amount for the construction in
advance, he didn't come back.  They had also purchased a 50' x 30' liner, which was being stored in the old coach house (pictured
here).  Of course, I was like, "Hey, if you've got a 50' x 30' liner, lets dig the pond big enough to use it all!"  So that's what we did.
They wanted to stick with a
kind of Zen theme, hence
the gravel area and just a
few well placed rocks for
interest.  We also added the
complete the look.

We dug the pond 5' deep,
and had to stop because we
hit ground water, which
meant we had to backfill a
little so the liner wouldn't
bubble up from the water
pressure below, so I think it
ended up being about 4½'
deep.
On the side of the pond opposite the coach house, they had a
small hill with a couple of juniper trees already established, so I
thought, "Why not have the waterfall coming out from behind
the existing trees?"  With a pond this big, we needed two
skimmer boxes and two filter boxes anyway, so we excavated
part of the hill behind the tree/shrub and set the filter boxes
back to back behind the juniper that Paula is standing in front of.
I don't remember how many ton of rocks we had delivered, but let
me just say - it was a BUNCH.  My excavator, Mike, helped set the
large waterfall rocks at the edge of the pond with his backhoe and
of times we strained so hard trying to just budge one of these bad
boys, we ended up laughing ourselves into a state of complete
uselessness!

The pictures below are of the view from the back side of the pond.
The flat rocks along the boarder of the garden area were all there
at the site when we got there, so those didn't need to be ordered -
just set.
