MESH MEDIA BAGS:
If you are utilizing a pond kit, your kit will come with the appropriate number of media bags.
Each bag has a draw-string. A 22" x 26" bag will hold five (5) cubic feet of BactiTwist Filter
Media.

BACTI-TWIST FILTER MEDIA:
Formerly "EasyClean Filter Media" is quite possibly the best filtration material on
the market today. To the left is a picture of Rick, who manufactures Bacti-Twist
Filter Media. Everybody say, "Hi, Rick!" Every pond I install comes with this
filter media because, well, to be honest, it's so easy to clean! Since we also do
pond maintenance, it is always a possibility that I may have to come back to
maintain a pond I have installed, and lifting heavy bags of lava rock caked in fish
poop got old in a hurry. I know other retailers will tell you lava rock works just
fine, but they probably don't have their own pond, or if they do, they have some
poor schmuck (like me, for example) maintain it. Lava rock is much less
expensive, but it WILL become so encrusted with fish poop that it will turn your
filtration from an aerobic bacterial environment to an anaerobic one. Lava rock
also has a tendency to channel, which means that the water goes around the
filter media instead of through it, thus reducing the effectiveness of your
filtration, usually when you need it most. As your fish grow and multiply, they
produce more and more waste. The lava rock will become encrusted, even if
rinsed regularly, and reduce your filter's load capacity. Bacti-Twist Filter Media
is a one-time purchase, as it never needs to be replaced (just cleaned). It will
save your back, and quite possibly your fish!

Bacti-Twist Filter Media is sold by the cubic
foot in 2 cu. ft. and 5 cu. ft. bags., in either
white or black, and in 3 grades, #50 - Narrow,
#100 - Medium, and #300 - Wide.
I carry the #100 - Medium grade in black
because the Medium grade has the most
surface area per square inch for your
beneficial bacteria to grow on, and the black
color is less obvious in your filter.

MATALA FILTER MEDIA:
This mat type filter material is the best currently available. It is
designed to trap debris, just like any other filter mat, but it is a
rigid material, which makes it much easier to clean. Ordinary
filter mats need to be smacked against the ground or a tree to
dislodge the fine particles trapped in it (with the added bonus of
flinging fish poop everywhere). Because of it's rigid construction,
Matala rinses easily and comes in four (4) grades of courseness,
from fine (white) to course (black). It can be cut utilizing a
kitchen knife to fit snuggly into any filter or skimmer box.
This mat type filter material is the best currently available. It is
